Jodie Hall-McAteer crowned Voltaire Design Under 25 British Champion 2019

Nineteen year-old Jodie Hall-McAteer from Borehamwood, Hertfordshire took an emphatic win in this evening’s Voltaire Design Under 25 British Championship at Olympia, The London International Horse Show on Salt ‘N Peppa, a 10 year-old chestnut gelding owned by Mandy Hall.

A total of ten combinations strode out into the packed arena under the Olympia Grand Hall roof after having qualified for the Championship on Friday and spectators were treated to a thrilling class. Tonight’s first round played out over twelve fences and half the field jumped clear to access the jump off.

Saved from closing for good, these London stables are back in business with two international show jumpers at the helm.

It’s the most unlikely location for a hack. To my left the street is blocked as a group of protesters denounce Donald Trump’s visit to London. Sirens shrill above the thrum of the capital’s traffic. Behind me is the Ferris wheel of Winter Wonderland, and all the while buggies, joggers and cyclists zip by. This is Rotten Row, a broad, sandy track in the south of Hyde Park — an avenue originally established in the 17th century. Over 300 years on, aboard a trusty piebald cob, Ivan, I trot down this same 1,384 metres of sand, and marvel at the thought of all the horses through history who have trodden this path — and the utter bombproofness of Ivan.

Borehamwood sisters Jodie and Ellie Hall-McAteer celebrated winning both the Children and Pony Grand Prix in Belgium.

A memorable performance by 16-year-old Jodie Hall-McAteer and Tixylix saw them claim a win by just 0.11 seconds in what proved to be a hotly contested jump-off. Jodie, who won an individual silver in addition to a team gold at last year’s Pony European Championships in Sweden with Tixylix, looks set to be just as successful this year.

Having just celebrated her 16th birthday this will be her last year on ponies and the commitment, focus and drive she showed left no-one in any doubt that she is hoping to have the chance to defend her title.

Team NAF Young Riders finish joint second in Wierden Nations Cup

This afternoon at the Dutch Youngster Festival in Wierden, The Netherlands, it was a joint second Nations Cup finish for the Young Riders, competing under the title sponsor banner of Team NAF. The four riders representing Great Britain all put in some terrific rounds and it was 20 year-old Jodie Hall McAteer with Hello M’Lord, a 13 year-old brown stallion that achieved the sole double clear for the team that gave them the final push up the line-up.
